Micropropagation of the Cuban Papaya Hybrid IBP 42-99
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2002, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
This work consisted of developing a methodology to propagate papaya hybrids through in vitro culture. As plant material, lateral buds of plants of the hybrid IBP 42-99 were used. The explants were established following the methodology proposed by Posada et al (1999). For the multiplication stage, the combinations of 6-BAP (0.225, 0.45 and 0.90 mg.l-1) and ANA (0.14 and 0.28 mg.l-1) were studied. In the rooting stage, a comparison was done between the culture media proposed by Drew (1988) and Posada (1995). The culture medium containing MS salts (1962) supplemented with 0.45 mg.l-1 of 6-BAP and 0.14 mg.l-1 of ANA was the most adequate for multiplication, while the best medium for rooting was 5mg.l-1 of AIB with ten days in the culture medium, where 68% of rooted plants was obtained and in the acclimatization phase 71% of plant adaptation was achieved.

Comparison of three explants for Phaseolus vulgaris L. the regeneration via indirect organogenesis
The embryonic axis and green nodular calli were the most used explants for genetic transformation via Agrobacterium tumefaciens of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L). However, obtaining transgenic plants from these exp...
Selection of guava clonal lines of the cultivar Enana roja (EEA 18-40) for use in genetic improvement and propagation
The present work was carried out with the objective of evaluating and selecting in field conditions clonal lines of guava (variety Enana Roja, EEE 18-40) according to the fruits characters. The plants used were obtained...
In vitro establishment and multiplication of Citrus aurantifolia Christm. Swing. var. ‘Mexicana’ from seeds
Citrus fruits are crops with high economic and medicinal value. The creole lime (Citrus aurantifolia Christm. Swing) var. ‘Mexican’ is widely consumed in Cuba but the incidence of pests and diseases has affected its pr...
Indirect organogenesis in Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. CIAP 7247
The main difficulty that limits the genetic transformation in Phaseolus vulgaris L. is the low responsiveness for in vitro regeneration. The development of an in vitro regeneration via organogenesis protocol is needed i...
