Microsurgical reparation of Wistar rats facial nerve through suture – Part II
Journal Title: RSBO - Year 2005, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
The right side facial nerves of 20 Wistar rats were trans-sectioned,and the extremities were approximated with one plain epineural suture stitch and surrounded by a BioFill® sheath. The observed histological changes were proliferation of fibrous tissue, invasion of the nervous tissue by mastocites and fibroblasts and presence of collagen fibrils. The use of de BioFill® sheath offers advantages because they are responsible for the better direction of the nerve fibers.
