MIGRATION OF 137Cs AND 90Sr IN SOIL AND AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS, DNIPROPETROVSK REGION AFTER THE CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

Abstract

Study changes in the radiological status of agricultural production Dnepropetrovsk region. Has clarified the distribution of radionuclides: cesium-137 and strontium-90 agricultural soil Dnipropetrovsk in 1986 and 2010, here grown winter wheat. Determined decrease in radioactivity of cesium-hundred and thirty-seventh of strontium-90 in the studied soils in 2010 compared to 1986. It is shown that the content of arable land-137 cesium decrease 1.6 times, and strontium -90 in 2.0 times compared to 1986. The density of the soil in all studied soils is within acceptable levels (1,15–1,30 g/cm3). The concentrations of humus, mobile phosphorus and exchangeable potassium, nitrate nitrogen and pH in the soil of the fields can be attributed to the factors which cause the increased mobility of radionuclides and influence the intensity of migration of cesium-137 and strontium-90 from soil to plants. It is found that in winter wheat straw accumulation of cesium-137 and strontium-90 1.3 and 1.5 times more intense than in winter wheat grain.
