МОДУСНИЙ ТИП МОТИВАЦІЇ ФІТОНІМІВ У ГЕРМАНСЬКИХ І СЛОВ’ЯНСЬКИХ МОВАХ

Abstract
This research represents a comparative study on medicinal plant names (or phytonyms) in German, English, Russian and Ukrainian. It provides an insight into the nature of motivational basis of designation, which in this article is considered as cognitive activity standing behind the process of designation. The material under study (plant names) is characterized by evaluative semantic component and the main aim of the article is to describe the ways in which category of evaluation is reflected in motivational types of phytonyms. The article concentrates on the type of designation, which is based on modes of attitude and is further subdivided into four subtypes depending on the kind of evaluative meaning found in the semantic structure of medicinal plant names, namely, sensory, psychological, sublimated and rationalistic.
