Monitoring of large mammals

Abstract
The paper indicates objectives, goals and possible applications of data obtained through the monitoring of large mammals. Described are methods for monitoring the population numbers/density, population structure, health condition, spatial distribution, habitat use, and the time scale of monitoring. Discussed are also requirements for the monitoring system connected with introduction of Natura 2000 network to Poland.
