Multicriterion optimisation at a choice of the speech codec taking into account set of indicators of quality

Abstract
The article deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of multicriteria optimization methodology for selecting design solutions, optimal set of conflicting with each other indicators of quality. In the beginning of the set of feasible options allocated subset of Pareto-optimal solutions that are non-dominated options for an unconditional preference criterion. Other options are by far the worst, and are excluded from further consideration. Then a subset of Pareto narrows to a single design decision involving additional information from the experts. An example of application of multicriteria optimization methodology for multi-criteria selection of optimal speech codec based on five quality indicators: the coding rate speech coding quality assessment, implementation complexity, frame size, total delay. In the initial set of 23 variants of speech codecs a subset of Pareto-optimal, including 12 goals. In a subset of Pareto only option selected speech codec using the method of analysis of hierarchies Saaty for processing data received from the experts.
