Nacjonalizm na współczesnej scenie partyjnej Japonii

Abstract
The article focuses on the problem of the presence of nationalism on the contemporary Japanese political scene, after the Lower and Upper House elections of 2012 and 2013. The first part examines the theoretical basis, including attempts to categorize the concept of nationalism. There is a noticeable problem of differences between the European and Japanese connotations and unequal position of nationalism before and after World War II, particularly in its structure and forms of occurrence. In the second part of the paper, on the background of the party scene the position of nationalism is being analyzed. It is present mainly in such formations as the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) or Japan Restoration Party (JRP). There are also other, smaller political parties, at the moment non-relevant, until they would be to merge with JRP. The presence of nationalistic attitudes in LDP can be visible only in some domestic factions, however, they dominate in the party at the moment. These attitudes are presented mainly in the form of aggressive or provocative rhetoric of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and historical revisionism on Korea and China. Later, the position of the POJ is analyzed, with particular attention to the controversial chairman, Ishihara Shintaro. The final part focuses on the difference between conservatives and nationalists and the recognition of the paradoxical isolation of today’s nationalism, despite its seemingly strong position.
