NANOBURRS: A NOVEL APPROACH IN THE TREATMENT OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Pharmacy (IRJP) - Year 2011, Vol 2, Issue 5

Abstract

"Nanoburrs" are nanoparticles coated with a sticky protein that makes them cling onto artery walls while they slowly release drugs. Patients with narrowed arteries in which drug-eluting stents cannot be used, now can use nanoburrs. Nanoburrs provides an advance technology in the field of science that potentially provides an alternative to drug-releasing stents in some patients with cardiovascular disease. This review brings about the working and applications of nanoburrs.
