Nanoindentation applied to the study of biomaterials
Journal Title: Recueil de mécanique - Year 2018, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
A biomaterial is a material used and adapted for medical applications. In order to extend the life of the human body, the biomaterial is the alternative most considered by doctors. Metals used as biomaterials have high yield strengths and tensile strengths. In order to characterize the mechanical properties of biomaterials, such as Young's modulus, hardness, contact stiffness, nanoindentation tests have been conducted. In the field of biomechanics, this new non-destructive technique tends to miniaturize specimens experimentally tested, at very small sizes, and reach penetration depths in the impression residual induced by the indentation force, at the nanometer scale. The hardness scale factor values are compatible with absolute hardness. This means that the density of dislocations participates in the deformation process; hence the plastic deformation capacity is dependent on the microstructure.

Numerical study of the chimney-collector junction geometry influence on the solar chimney performances
The aim of this work is to study the influence of the chimney-collector junction geometry on the performance of the solar chimney CCS. Three geometries are chosen for this study: perpendicular, curved and inclined. A mat...
Thermodynamic study and analysis of thermohydraulic cycle for power generation
This paper is devoted to the study and analysis of the thermohydraulic process used for power generation from low potential heat sinks as thermal-solar and geothermal resources. The machine studied operates according to...
Solar distillation between a simple and double-glazing
The south-east region of Algeria suffers from a great socio-economic problem that affects a large population. Faced with the unavailability of drinking water, solar distillation; which appears to be a suitable and inexpe...
Characterization of thermally affected steels by nanoindentation
The thermal affectation is the basis of metallurgical modifications of the base metal which can induce fragilities, decreases in mechanical strength, lack of ductility ... These modifications depend on the material exami...
Thermal regulation of photovoltaic’s cells with a phase change material
Elevation temperature of photovoltaic’s (PV) cells reduced his efficiency, but the use of phase change material’s (PCM) behind the PV can maintain his temperature close of the ambient. This paper studies the use of PCM o...
