Journal Title: Здоров`я дитини - Year 2014, Vol 6, Issue 57

Abstract

The article presents the results of the first in Ukraine investigation on the prevalence of nasopharyngeal pneumococcus carriage in healthy children up to 5 years, living in children’s homes. It is shown that the children of this cohort reported almost total nasopharyngeal colonization with pneumococcus (95.6 %). Serotypes 19F (54.8 %), 6A/B (22.5 %), 14 (4.8 %) and 23F (3.2 %) have dominated. High resistance of pneumococcus to antimicrobial agents was shown.
