A GIS METHOD OF EVALUATING THE DEGREE OF SUSCEPTIBILITY TO EXTREME EVENTS IN "MUNTII RODNEI" NATIONAL PARK
Journal Title: The Annals of Valahia University of Târgoviste, Geographical Series - Year 2008, Vol 8, Issue 2
Abstract
In bringing out the susceptibility degree in „Muntii Rodnei" National Park a Susceptibility General Index was elaborated and applied. The formula is based on the fact that in order to accomplish the extreme events braking out conditions one can identify both primary potential factors and secondary potential factors. Through its landscape diversity „Mun{ii Rodnei" National Park represents a whole and complex system in which its components are in permanent interaction. Its susceptibility to extreme events derives especially from the geomorphic features and bio-pedo-climatic conditions, determining a regionalization of its susceptibility degree, especially between the upper relief level and the valley corridors on one hand and the catchment (sub- catchment) basins from the eastern and western side, on the other.
