Journal Title: IOSR Journal of Pharmacy (IOSRPHR) - Year 2014, Vol 4, Issue 2

Abstract

INTRODUCTION :The pressure response, which is part of a huge spectrum of stress response, results from the increase in sympathetic and sympathoadrenalactivity.Acomparision between dexmeditomedine and fentanyl in suppressing the pressorresponse is studied. OBJECTIVE :This study was done to compare the effectiveness of Dexmedetomidine with Fentenyl in attenuating the pressor responses associated with laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation in groups belonging to normotensive ASA grade 1, 2 risk surgical patients. MATERIAL :The study was carried out on 100 patients belonging to ASA grade I and II, aged 15 to 65 years, including either gender, scheduled for elective surgical procedures under general anesthesia.
