Experimental investigation of fibre reinforced plastics with hybridlayups under high-velocity impact loads
Journal Title: Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale - Year 2014, Vol 8, Issue 29
Abstract
This paper deals with experimental investigations concerning energy dissipation capacity ofdifferent kinds of reinforcement fibres in monolithic and hybrid layups under high-velocity impact loads. Theinvestigated kinds of fibres are carbon, glass and basalt fibres. Therefore test panels, using the same thermosetresin, were built up and cured by autoclave processing. The fibre volume content of the test panels has beendetermined. Furthermore the influence of a separating layer at selected positions in the hybrid stacked panelswas investigated. The results show the influence and the energy dissipation capacity of each single kind of fibreand the enhanced properties for the hybrid layups by hybrid stacking sequences and the use of a separating corematerial.

Analysis of the causes of failure in 5Cr-1Mo pipes mounted in a preheating furnace
The oxidation resistance of iron-based alloys depends on the formation of thin protective films consisting of reaction products between the alloys and the ambient atmosphere. The high corrosion resistance of Fe-Cr-...
Strain gradient elasticity within the symmetric BEM formulation
The symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method is used to address a class of strain gradientelastic materials featured by a free energy function of the (classical) strain and of its (first) gradient. With respectto...
Research on borehole stability of shale based on seepage-stress-damage coupling model
In oil drilling, one of the most complicated problems is borehole stability of shale. Based on the theory of continuum damage mechanics, a modified Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion according to plastic damage evoluti...
Bond-slip analysis via a cohesive-zone model simulating damage, friction and interlocking
A recently proposed cohesive-zone model which effectively combines damage, friction andmechanical interlocking has been revisited and further validated by numerically simulating the pull-out test, from a concrete bl...
Influence of mean stress on the fatigue strength of ASTM A743 CA6NM alloy steel
The objective of this work is to evaluate the effects of mean stress on the fatigue behavior of ASTM A743 CA6NM alloy steel. It is used in several hydrogenator turbine components. In order to achieve it, 33 specimens wer...
