Generation Of Electricity Using Vermicompost With Different Substrates Through Single Chamber MFC Approach
Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING TRENDS AND TECHNOLOGY - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 9
Abstract
The application of Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) for electricity generation has been developing recently. In recent years, researchers have shown that MFC can be used to produce electricity from water containing glucose, acetate or lactate. This research explores the application of Single chamber MFC in generating electricity using different waste water mixed with vermicompost from Jabalpur. In order to obtain the aim of this research, a system of MFC with microbes has been used. Based on the result of different types of waste water samples with vermicompost, it found that the maximum voltage generated among all the three combinations is 385mV at day five by waste water of biscuit factory mixed with vermicompost. The potential difference generated by the MFC was measured using multimeter.
