The implementation of environmental strategies by commercial banks

Abstract
The first part of the article reviews the theoretical issues on banks’ involvement in the environment protection. There are also results of the study of the banks which are included in the DJSI index. The second part includes a case study of the international banking institution, relating to the solutions for environment and climate protection. During the analysis it was found growing involvement of commercial banks in issues related to environmental protection. This is reflected in the records of bank strategy. However, it is effectiveness which is a key aspect of their implementation.
