Journal Title: Biuletyn Instytutu Morskiego - Year 1996, Vol 23, Issue 1

Abstract

Poland pays much attention to the modernization and development of the North-South Transport Corridor. Its importance in the national transport system results from the fact that it connects the dynamically developing port agglomerations with the most industrialized regions in central and south Poland} which are characterized by a highest demand for passenger and cargo traffic. Besides} the geographic position of Poland as a transit country for European north-south traffic} and the growing volume of foreign trade and tourism between Central European countries} cause that the Polish transport corridor begins to have increasing importance in the European transport system.
