Notes in the books of Francysk Skaryna’s followers as a source on the history of book distribution in Eastern Europe until the middle of the XVII century

Abstract
The article examines the potential of the book notes as a source of the history of book migration in Eastern Europe during the early Modern history period. The text is based on the research of printed cyrillic books of the second half of the XVI century. The article contains the review of the previous studies of the issue. There are also some examples of how inscriptions help to get information on the history of using, reading, transfer of the book. Analysis of the notes in the books of Skaryna’s followers (printers of the second half of the XVI century) indicates a high degree of development and spreading of the books among the population of Eastern Europe, as well as the rapid adaptation of local readers to the new technology of text transmission.
