NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS OF BUCKLE DELAMINATION GROWTH IN CUASI-STATIC LOADING CONDITION

Abstract
Presented in this article studies are part of work conducted to develop a reference methodology for assessing the impact of damage to the durability and strength of structures made of advanced composite materials. This work was carried out under the project TEBUK ‘Development of the technology for testing the resistance to damage of aviation and space composite load bearing structures’, which is carried out in the Institute of Aviation. The analyzed carbon-epoxy rectangular plate 150×100×3,96 mm contained 40 mm diameter delamination located in its center. The propagation of the delamination in quasi-static loading condition of the plate was investigated. The paper presents results of the linear buckling analysis and the nonlinear analysis of postbuckling delamination propagation. The numerical results were compared with the results of experimental research. Studies have shown that the tested plate was too small thickness, and was too sensitive to global buckling to perform proper verification.<br/><br/>
