NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL MODAL MODES IDENTIFICATION METHODS OF STEEL CONSTRUCTION

Abstract

A good knowledge of dynamic characteristics is a crucial factor to safely and reliably operate a machine. The ZGOT 12500 spreader bridge was investigated with operational and numerical modal analysis methods. The use of two different methods allowed a better identification of modal modes. In numerical methods it is easier to identify modal deflection shapes but the accuracy of the frequencies might be low. It is caused by simplifications made during model construction. An operational modal analysis allows one to identify natural frequencies under operational conditions. However, sometimes the modes can be strongly skewed. A comparison of both sets of results allowed one to identify three modes of natural frequencies of the stacker bridge.
