Окремі аспекти ресоціалізації неповнолітніх засуджених / Some Aspects of Resocialization of Convicted Juveniles

Abstract

The article deals with the concept of correction of juvenile convicts serving sentences in educational colonies, the main components and factors that influence and enable them to achieve their re-socialization and social adaptation. The issue of the national experience of social-pedagogical activity in the institutions of the criminal-executive system is also widely disclosed, the essence, meaning and peculiarities of the process of labor education as a means of resocialization of juvenile convicts are revealed (on the example of A. S. Makarenko's experience), analyzed main ideas of education of "heavy" teenagers. The article proposes the definition of re-socialization as a process of interaction of the offender with the social environment in order to re-assimilate the norms adopted in society and values under the influence of a set of factors (social, psychological, legal). The urgency of this problem, in the first place, is connected with the high level of teenage crime in the structure of general crime, the negative changes in its qualitative characteristics. The authors propose their view of the given problem, comprehensively reveal various aspects of the multi-faceted process of re-socialization, distinguish the main directions of corrective influence on the juvenile convict. According to the authors, compulsory education is the obligatory and one of the most important elements on the path to the correction of a person, provided by the current legislation. In accordance to the well-known authors, educational colonies are penal institutions that have to take care of the physical and mental health of convicts, to respond to education, to develop their interests, to organize leisure activities, to re-educate themselves in order to get rid of negative features of character and to adapt to the exit in society, from which they are isolated. So, authors consider that the successful re-socialization of such convicts should provide qualitatively positive changes in the purposeful self-directed social and regulatory behavior in a person that will enable them to integrate seamlessly into existing society.
