On the Seismic Cloaking
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2014, Vol 11, Issue 1
Abstract
Geometric transformations are strongly sustained by manufacture of auxetic materials based on the pore size reduction through radial compression molds. In addition, geometric transformations underlie the development of seismic cloaking. The spatial compression of the conventional foams is determined by the shape of the cloaked object. The cloaking structures can effectively convert the destructive seismic waves into a different type of wave whose intensity dissipates quickly. The technique is the same to the scattering waves of light to render objects invisible.

The Use of the Friction Pendulum Bearings for Isolation of the Built Environment
Base isolation systems have become a significant element of a structural system to enhance reliability during an earthquake. One type of base isolation system is Friction Pendulum Bearings in which the superstructure is...
Influence of Damping Over the Rudder Control System of an Aircraft
The control system of the rudder of an aircraft can be modeled in a first order approximation as a system of rigid bodies that transmits instantaneously the desired motion to the movable part of the vertical tail. Howeve...
Finite Element Analysis of thin plates clamped on the rim of different geometric forms. Part I: Simulating the Vibration Mode Shapes and Natural Frequencies
This paper comprises an introductive part, in which theoretic notions regarding plates and their classification are presented, as well as stating some national and international researches published regarding the study a...
Determination of the Natural Frequencies of Beams Using Sound Pressure
This paper presents a method to determine the natural frequencies of transversal bending vibrations of beams and plates by means of time-history analysis. As excitation source the sound pressure produced by a speaker was...
A Car Component Subjected to Multiple Sources of Random Vibrations
In this article, the random vibration simulation method applied to a car component is presented. The main vibration sources which appear at the automotive body level are mentioned. By using finite element analysis, one c...
