Optimization of the Mechanical Structure of Industrial Robots Used in Welding Operations, Using the Finite Element Method
Journal Title: RECENT - Year 2011, Vol 12, Issue 33
Abstract
This paper is about choosing the optimum variant, from the constructive-geometrical and material points of view, for a structure element within the construction of an industrial robot. We have used finite elements analysis (FEA) for optimizing the robot’s forearm as regards the stress it is subject to, without influencing the technical-functional parameters. The articulated arm-type industrial robot studied below is dedicated to welding applications, being integrated in a robotized flexible cell for electric arc welding, choosing the optimum variant of the robot’s forearm.

Model-Based Fault Diagnosis in a Waste-Processing Industrial System via Causal Graphs
The paper describes a Casual Graph (CAG) approach to fault diagnosis of industrial systems, based on logical and qualitative methodology for modelling the diagnostic aspects of a system structure and behaviour. The main...
Tolerance Optimization of the 2H2P Assembly for Modular Fixtures
The paper presents a stochastic approach to maximize the geometric accuracy of the two pins - two holes (2H2P) assembly. The probability of successful 2H2P assemblies to engineering specifications is calculated using a M...
About the Independent Sets of Periodically Meshing Teeth in Gear Drives - Part II
This article relies on the concept of independent sets of meshing teeth, which affect numerous performance parameters of gear drives. The influence of these contact sets on the noise- and vibration activity, as well as t...
Software Tool Used for Holes Manufacturing Processes
The paper presents a software tool, developed in AutoCAD environment, used for manufacturing processes of holes. The holes are placed on solids with different configurations. The software tool is part of CAD/CAM system s...
The Corrosion Characterization of Ti-Si-C Thin Films Obtained by Magnetron Sputtering Deposition
Nano-composite layers, formed by a mixture of crystalline or amorphous nano-phases, which include Ti-Si-C type layers, obtained with the help of the PVD process, have attracted lately a wide interest both in research, an...
