Ortaokul ve Lise Öğrencileri Arasında İnternet Bağımlılığı ve Kuru Göz Hastalığının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of internet addiction and to evaluate the associated factors and dry eye disease among secondary and high school students. Material and methods: A total of 2309 students (78.2%) formed the study group. Ocular Surface Dısease Index (OSDI) Dry Eye Scale was used for the evaluation of dry eye disease. Internet addiction of students was assessed by the Young Internet Addiction Scale. Results: The prevalence of internet addiction was 7.4% (n=170) in the study. Having type A personality, smoking, use 2 hours per day on the internet and access the internet at least once a day were found to be significant risk factors for internet addiction in the study (each p ≤ 0.05). There was a weak positive correlation between the Young Internet Addiction Scale and the score of OSDI scale in the study (r = 0.285, p = 0.000). Conclusions: Internet addiction is an important health problem in secondary and high school students studying in Mahmudiye and Sivrihisar districts.
