PALLIATIVE CARE FOR THE PENSIONERS: A CALL FOR IMMEDIATE POLICY INITIATIVES IN KYRGYZ HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

Abstract
This critical discussion policy paper argues that the pension and disability allowances are not enough for a pensioner with a disability to live a dignified life. A physical disability, in addition to the old age requires special medical care which is referred as Palliative Care (1). The current Kyrgyz health care system is failing even to provide the basic medical care facilities for the pensioners suffering with a disability and require immediate policy initiatives to introduce advance palliative care system.
