Abstract
The parenteral nutrition (PN) is defined as the set of techni ques that allow intravenous administration of nutrients (car bohydrates, lipids, amino acids, electrolytes, trace elements, vitamins and water) to patients who have excluded tract function gastrointestinal. This guide reviews the assessment of nutritional status, indications of parenteral nutritional sup port, route of administration, protein-calorie nutritional calcu lation, monitoring response to therapy and its complications.
