Partially Decalcified Allogenic Bone Graft - In Fibrous Dysplasis Treatment
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Orthopaedics Surgery - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Background: Fibrous d ysplasia o f the bone is a n unco mmon, congenital skeletal disord er, and it not inherited. Spontan eous resolution o f fibrous d ysplasia does not occur. Th ere is no cure for fibrous d ysplasia, and existin g guidelines fo r th e treatment are not universally accepted . Treatment fo r fibrous d ysplasia gen erally con sist fro m clinical observation in non-sympto matic cases to surgical interventio n in sympto matic or severe cases. Method: This stud y evaluated th e fibrous d ysplasia p atients in a series o f ten cases, treated b y curettage and fillin g o f the cavity using partially d ecalcified allo genic bone grafts, prep ared b y partial decalcification with 0.6 N Hydro chloric acid (HCl) o f hu man bones. Result: In five cases graft was fully in corporated and healin g was con sidered co m plete and in another five cases, h ealing was p artial. There was no failure of graft in an y case. Conclusion: Stud y sho ws that the results o f treatment o f fibrous d ysplasia b y d ecalcified allo genic bone grafts are favourable.
