Partnership in the co-operation with an academic ensemble and conductor’s personality traits

Abstract
The article raises the question of partnership in the conductor’s co-operation with an academic music ensemble (orchestra or choir). While explaining the term ‘partnership’, the author makes an attempt to transfer it onto the domain of ensemble music performance. His reflections are focused on the issue of a conductor’s co-operation with an academic orchestra. He presents the charcteristics of such an ensemble. Applying the classification of personality traits derived from [i]The Five-Factor Model of Personality[/i], based on the tests conducted by Paul Costa and Robert McCrea, as well as employing his own research results, the author aims to indicate the qualities which contribute to the development of artistic and organizational partnership in the conductor-academic orchestra relationship.
