Penetration Tests of Armour Plates Made in New Technologies
Journal Title: Problemy Mechatroniki. Uzbrojenie, lotnictwo, inżynieria bezpieczeństwa - Year 2011, Vol 2, Issue 3
Abstract
This paper presents the results of the tests of experimental armour resistance for penetration with 7,62x54R mm Mosin and 12,7x99 mm NATO round. The highest ballistic resistance to the impact of a 7,62 mm-calibre bullet (level III according STANAG) was observed for plates that were pad welded with a P-CNi-AlNiAl layer. Whereas, for a 12,7 mm-calibre bullet, the best results were obtained for nanostructural padding welds. Tests were made by the Faculty of Mechatronics, Military University of Technology, during the R+D project PBR/15-022/2009/WAT entitled: „HVOF arc and flame spraying as GMA and laser pad welding of nanostructural composite and gradient surface layers that are characterised by a high ballistic resistance of an armour’s protection module”
