Peranan Sekolah Dalam Membentuk Budaya Berbahasa Murid

Abstract
This research is conducted to obtain information about to what extend does the school influences the language competence among primary school children. This research aims to identify the roles of the school in improving the language skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing in Bahasa Melayu. This research is a case study using a qualitative approach. Respondents selected for this study are 22 students, who are from Year 4 to Year 6, from the same school. The research instruments include document analysis, observation, interview and questionnaires. The above methods are used to obtain data on the role of the school regarding the 4 language skills. Document analysis is used to obtain data on writing skill and observation and interview are used to obtain data regarding the reading skill while the questionnaire is used to obtain data regarding the listening and speaking skills. The results showed that the uses of standard Malay language are still weak among the students. In conclusion, it will effect the student’s language learning process in education.
