Abstract
The following article describes one of the most controversial strategies and supplementary teaching tools in the process of Russian language teaching and learning – translation techniques. The author analyses some tendencies in using translation tool in its efficient way. At the same time, major hazards concerning this teaching tool are discussed. All issues presented in the paper revolve chiefly around the Russian language but hopefully many questions are universal.
