Performance of Different Bow Tie Antennas In Fresh Water

Abstract

In this paper, the performance of a different microstrip fed bow tie antennas in water is studied. The antennas are designed and simulated using the simulator tool HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator). The antenna is designed to be suit in microwave frequency, 2.45GHz. The antennas are fabricated on PCB and have the material for substrate is FR4 (Flame retardant) epoxy. Electromagnetic (EM) waves have high attenuation at high frequency and in water. But Bow tie antennas are commonly used in under water communication at GHz range. The antenna performance parameters return loss (S11), voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), input impedance and gain are studied in this paper.
