P.G. Sidorenko – organizer and founder of the modern directions in cell biology and plant biotechnology in Ukraine (to 90th anniversary)

Abstract
The paper depicts the key milestones in the life and the most important scientific achievements and advances in scientific and organizational work of Pavel Gavrilovich Sidorenko – Ph.D., senior researcher, one of the founders of cell biology and biotechnology plants in Ukraine, known cytologist, geneticist and plant biotechnologist. The main stages of revival and further development of modern genetics and formation of cell biology in Ukraine in 1960-1970's are briefly analyzed and the role of P.G. Sidorenko in these processes and his contribution to the training and education of scientific personnel in these fields is highlighted.Key words: P.G. Sidorenko, history of science, cytology, genetics, cell biology, plant biotechnology.
