Phraseological innovations and new formations of the modern English language.

Abstract

The article highlights the principles of creation and functioning of phraseological units of modern English. Special attention is drawn to the areas of origin and peculiarities of the development of phraseological innovations. Special attention is drawn to the areas of origin and peculiarities of the development of phraseological innovations.The aim of the article presupposes the following tasks to be fullfield: outline the theoretical bases of learning English phraseology based on research works of domestic and foreign linguists; determine means of phraseological fund expansion, such as phraseologization of free word combination and phraseological derivation. The object of article is neologisms that appeared in modern English. The subject of article is ways of forming phraseological neologismsin modern English of the first half of the XXI century.The sources of article were new dictionaries on current phraseological units, articles devoted to phraseological neologisms.The methods applied into the article are critical analysis of the scientific literature, to determine the theoretical foundations of the study of modern English phraseology; (a variance in the data) method - on the stage of selection of material from the lexicographical sources; descriptive method and the method of comparative analysis - for describing, organizing, classifying and interpreting structural and semantic and national cultural features of English phraseological neologisms. There are a lot stock of knowledge about neologisms. Domestic linguists put their finger on studying it (V.I. Zabotkina, N.Z. Kotelova, E.O. Levashov, V.M. Sergeev). Foreign scientists also traced the emergence and development of phraseological innovations (J. Algeo, R. Baayen, G. Cannon, C. Cutler, W. Lee, J. Simpson).
