Journal Title: Dipteron-Wrocław - Year 2018, Vol 35, Issue
Abstract
The peacock fly Callopistromyia annulipes (MACQUART) is recorded from Poland for the first time, based on specimens collected in the city of Wrocław, the south-western region of Lower Silesia. The males and females were observed during September on a warm, insulated hill near river, walking on dead trunks of the white poplar trees Populus alba cut by beavers. The flies showed the typical behavior of raising their wings vertically in such a way that their anterior margins meet. We summarize all hitherto know data on the occurrence of this alien species (native of North America) in Europe and its natural history.
