Plasticity of the AlSi9Mg alloy modified with Na, F and Cl compounds
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2010, Vol 10, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper presents the results of an experiment investigating the structure and the percent elongation of an AlSi9Mg alloy modified with NaCl, Na3AlF6 and NaF compounds. The alloy was modified in a crucible. The experiment had a factorial design of 23. Strength tests were performed on specimens with a diameter of 8 mm collected from a 16x140 mm cylinder cast in a sand mould. The applied modifier improved the studied alloy's eutectic properties and changed its percent elongation. Percent elongation values are presented in graphic form.

Quality stabilisation of synthetic sand containing bentonite in process lines
Stabilisation of sand quality requires the monitoring and control of sand moisture contents and its other parameters at each stage of sand processing, i.e. during the preparation of return sand mix and rebonding processe...
The influence of the arc plasma treatment on the structure and microhardness 100Cr6 bearing steel
The effect of arc plasma treatment on structure and microhardness of 100Cr6 steel was investigated. Four different the current intensity has been used to remelting surface of the steel. SEM and LM microscopes have been u...
Simulation of the ingot extraction in the continuous casting process
Cast ingot pulling speed is significantly affecting the nature of the resulting structure and the quality of the outer surface of the ingot. By introducing a variable algorithm for extraction of the ingot we may to some...
Gas flow through a multilayer ceramic mould in lost wax foundry process
The paper deals with the issues of permeability testing of ceramic moulds used in lost wax foundry process. The main issue in the testing is to provide proper specimens of ceramic moulds (CM). The moulds have to be repea...
Reclaimability of the spent sand mixture – sand with bentonite – sand with furfuryl resin
Introduction of new binding materials and new technologies of their hardening in casting moulds and cores production requires the application of reclamation methods adequate to their properties as well as special devices...
