Poland’s Cooperative Banking Sector vs. Organizational Networking
Journal Title: Zeszyty Naukowe Wydziału Zamiejscowego w Chorzowie Wyższej Szkoły Bankowej w Poznaniu - Year 2015, Vol 17, Issue
Abstract
In today’s highly competitive environment, it may be a viable choice for many businesses to evolve toward networked structures. There are multiple examples of business organizations in different industries that have been pursuing this approach with much success. The paper intends to address the following questions: Do the consolidation processes in Poland’s cooperative banking, a sector with a long-standing tradition and 100% Polish ownership, involve the formation of network structures? Does government policy aim to reinforce or avert the trend? Do cooperative bank executives favor the networking approach? The paper attempts to outline the current developments in Poland’s cooperative banking sector, with a focus on networking development paths, and to answer the above questions. At the same time, the author offers his own intuitions about how to best support the growth of a (single and “small-as-yet”) cooperative bank.
