Abstract
Guillain-Barré syndrome is an acute immune mediated neuropathy. lt is currently the most frequent cause of acute flaccid paralysis worldwide and constitutes one of the serious emergencies in neurology. Two thirds of cases are preceded by symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection ar diarrhea. Rapid diagnosis is required as much as 5% die, despite immunotherapy. In this paper we present the results of studies, along with a brief update on the issue.
