Portfolio in the System of Means for Evaluating Academic Achievements of Students of Professional-Pedagogical Specialties

Abstract

The urgency of the study is the attempt to consider the main problems of creation, the principles and theoretical foundations of the use of Portfolio technology in the system of assessing foreign students' achievements. The object of research is the process of preparing a portfolio in the evaluation system. The purpose of the work is to study the creation and application of a portfolio in the system of means for evaluating the academic achievements of students of vocational and pedagogical specialties, ascertaining the role of the future teacher's portfolio in enhancing professional competence. The use of the European language portfolio in practical classes with future teachers of English helps to achieve such tasks as: forming motivation for productive learning activities, developing cognitive skills of students, as well as the ability to objectively self-assess creative abilities, gaining the ability to navigate the information space, forecasting and organizing their activities in accordance with the goal, forming a conscious state future employment and self-employment. The use of innovative technology of language portfolio is important not only for the formation of motives for learning English in future English teachers, but also for their professional development. The use of teachers by the method of "portfolio" greatly improves independent work and forms a steady motivation of future English teachers to study. This technology not only develops internal motivation for learning, but also forms the need for the accumulation of information, its critical reflection and self-overcoming the difficulties that arise while learning English.
