Possible Means of Overcoming Sedimentation by Moss Sperm Cells
Journal Title: Modern Approaches in Oceanography and Petrochemical Sciences - Year 2019, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
A model for overcoming the gravity by moss sperm cells is proposed here. It is based on the assuming that the tip of constantly coiled sperm cell slips on surface of moss tissue, to which the cell is pressed by tensile strength of water. This tip and the cell mass center don’t coincide. Therefore, there appears a torque expressing gravitaxis of physical nature. In puddles the cells can successfully overcome the gravity detecting thermal fluctuations of their velocities, which expresses gravikinesis of physical nature. It can considerably improve fertilization of mosses. Bryophytes are the only plants; which sperm cells must move on considerable distances (it may be 10 or even 100 centimeters) to fuse with oocytes. When distanced from archegonia secreting special attractants, the spermatozoa move diffusively and thus the speed of their translocation is very low. Therefore, bryophytes have different means to increase the speed of their translocation.

Sidedness of Divergence as a Key to Understanding Southern Ocean Upwelling in the Overturning Circulation of the Oceans
Sidedness of divergence helps resolve a present discordance in our understanding of upwelling in the Southern Ocean, and thus it contributes to the evolving recognition of the oceans’ overturning circulation. Divergence...
Untold story of Deccan Traps: Role of silicate Liquid Immiscibility
Role of liquid immiscibility has immense importance in petro genesis of basaltic magmas. Roedder, Weiblen [1,2] postulated that high silica and high iron glasses of the lunar basaltic rocks have widespread petro genetic...
Water Circulation and Climate Change
Humanity annually takes away more and more lands from nature: plows it under crops, floods hydroelectric reservoirs, cuts down forests, concretes and asphalt areas of new cities and roads, falls asleep. “The total area o...
Atmospheric Study of Unusual Cloud & Rainfall Condition Over Indonesia Area During the End Of 2017 - Beginning 2018
Unusual rainfall occurrence at the end of the year 2017 up to beginning 2018 over some places in Indonesia has occurred to reduce the flooding areas that they had developed since November-beginning December 2017.The unus...
Seismic Time Fractal Dimension for Characterizing Shajara Reservoirs of The Permo – Carboniferous Shajara Formation, Saudi Arabia
The quality and assessment of a reservoir can be documented in detail by the demonstration of seismic time. This research aims to calculate fractal dimension from the relationship among seismic time, maximum seismic time...
