Preparation of Bi2O3/TiO2 fixed photocatalysts and degradation of aqueous Bisphenol A under simulated sunlight
Journal Title: Scientific Journal of Environmental Sciences - Year 2016, Vol 5, Issue 9
Abstract
A series of Bi2O3/TiO2 composite photocatalysts (T, 0.5BT, 1.0BT, 2.0BT, 4.0BT, 6.0BT and 8.0BT) were synthesized and used to degrade aqueous bisphenol A (BPA) under simulated sunlight irradiation. The structures of the photocatalysts were extensively characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS). UV-visible spectral analysis indicated that all of the Bi2O3/TiO2 photocatalysts shifted their absorption band toward visible light, and reduced energy gap. The experimental results indicated that aqueous BPA with a Bi-Ti atomic ratio of 4:96 was the most effective in degrading BPA under simulated sunlight irradiation.

Survey efficiency of dairy wastewater treatment by combined chemical coagulation and fenton oxidation process
A large amount of wastewater is produced in the dairy industry. This effluents creates major environmental problems when discharged to surface water. The combined chemical coagulation and Fenton oxidation process was app...
Diurnal variability of water temperature, pH and DO in the underground type fish shelter
We newly developed artificial deep pool (ADP) that secures a shelter and habitat space in bottom of the pond for fish escape from unfavorable conditions in freshwater ecosystem. Because the ADP is an underground structur...
Impact of spent engine oil on soil and the growth of Zea mays seeds
The impact of waste engine oil on soil and the growth of Zea mays seeds were investigated in this paper. Three concentrations of 500mL, 1000mL, and 1500mL waste engine oil applied to the soil affected the soil and growth...
Numerical investigation on packing density and inlet configurations of hollow fibres and their effects on flow pattern within ultrafiltration modules
This study aims to investigate the changes in output permeate flowrate of ultrafiltration hollow fibres with double - end configuration. Different parameters such as packing density, feed pressure and location of feed in...
Assessment of the impact of Abiotic factors on the fish assemblages in a tropical estuary creek
Fish assemblage structures of Badagry creek, Nigeria in relation to abiotic (physical and chemical) variables were studied for 2 years period (November, 2011 – September, 2013). Environmental parameters were monitored in...
