PREVALENCE OF BURNOUT SYNDROME IN NURSING STAFF AT POMABAMBA HOSPITAL – 2015

Abstract

This research article determined the prevalence of burnout syndrome in the nursing staff of the Pomabamba hospital in 2015. The study is essential due to the situation experienced by the nursing staff, presenting changes in their mood, exhaustion, demands of patients, among other factors that trigger work stress in hospitals. The study is quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive method and non-experimental design. The study sample consisted of 53 nurses who work at the Pomabamba hospital. The technique used was a survey and the instrument used is the Maslach burnout questionnaire.Inventory (MBI). The results showed that out of 100% (53) of the population, 20.8% (11) of the personnel presented high levels of emotional exhaustion; 60.4% (32) have high levels of depersonalization and; 83.0% (44) have low levels of personal fulfillment. So it was determined that the prevalence of burnout syndrome in the nursing staff of the Hospital is 77% (41).
