Problematyka gorących obszarów na powierzchni ciernej tarcz hamulcowych

Abstract
Paper discussed the problem of hot areas on rubbing surfaces of brake discs. Friction brake systems, due to the necessity of taking over and dissipating sometimes very high kinetic energy in the form of heat, are exposed to heavy thermal loads. Typical hot spots observed on rubbing surfaces has been classified and scenarios of their formation were presented. Subsequently, the negative impact of thermal load on the brake disc and braking process were discussed. Selected ways of heat dissipation in the brake disc were described. Further directions of brake discs development were indicated, especially for rail vehicles.
