Profiling of the planing tool for cycloidal worms machining – CAD method versus analitycal method
Journal Title: Proceedings in Manufacturing Systems - Year 2012, Vol 7, Issue 2
Abstract
Cycloidal worms are helical-cylindrical surfaces, having a constant pitch. They are used in helical pumps construction, usually as driving screws. This paper introduces a new method for profiling a helical-cylindrical surface, reciprocal enwrapped to the cycloydal worm flanks, developed under CATIA graphical environment. New method quality is assessed by comparing the results of its application to the ones obtained in same purpose by using a numerical method, grounded on the fundamental theorems of the enwrapped surfaces. The comparison is illustrated through numerical examples.

NUMERICAL STUDY ON DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF BORING BAR OF UNEQUAL BENDING STIFFNESS
The effects of tool tip orientation with respect to principal axis of non circular boring bar, on the stability of self-excited regenerative chatter vibration are numerically and experimentally investigated. The principa...
Review of the present technological advance in the field of water jet cutting
Water jet cutting (WJC) is a relative recent technology that has a high interest due to its results. The main advantage in using this flexible non-conventional technology is that there is no heat-affected zone (HAZ). Ano...
Measuring current discharge stored energy in capacitors welding
This paper presents an alternative for measuring the discharge current welding with stored energy in capacitors. Spot welding equipment with stored energy electrostatic allow very harsh regimes that ensure very short tim...
Thermal model of externally driven spindle: a semi-automatic construction of thermal network
This paper. Focuses on one application to construct a user guided thermal network for externally driven spindle of high speed. The objective is to develop a model the can be used for effective estimation of thermally dis...
Considerations regarding the incremental forming process in manufacturig
The incremental deformation process of the sheet metal blanks allows the realization, without the use of dies with a high degree of complexity, of a wide variety of parts, mostly for automotive (car body parts) and bio-m...
