Psychosocial effects of COVID 19 in university students of the Faculty of Social Work -National University of the Center of Peru

Abstract

Knowing the psychosocial effects of COVID 19 in university students of the Faculty of Social Work of the National University of Central Peru (UNCP) was the purpose of this research. Basic type study, descriptive level, quantitative, based on the scientific method; Three instruments were applied, a validated survey to measure the social aspect, the health stressors scale, and the Zung anxiety self-assessment scale, to measure the psychological aspect; For validity, the Pearson Correlation Coefficient (Others) was applied, the population was 320 students, the criterial sample being 90 students enrolled in the period 2021-I. The main results showed that all study subjects were affected by the COVID 19 pandemic to varying degrees, in the social dimension 66% went to health facilities indicating various difficulties in accessing services, 57% indicated that their economy family was greatly affected, forcing them to seek alternative activities, regarding their academic training, more than 70% of students reported technological insufficiency and network problems that have made it difficult to connect to virtual platforms; however, the majority of students have achieved a rapid adaptation to these changes, a fact that is manifested in the low levels of stress (15%) and anxiety (25%) revealed in the psychological dimension. It concludes by stating that the psychosocial effects were manifested in the limitations to health services, economic job insecurity, difficulties in accessing virtual education; situationswhose adequate emotional management had repercussions in low levels of stress and anxiety
