Pyramidal structures in Polish listed companies. Discussion of initial research results

Abstract
The ownership structure is one of the crucial features of companies and therefore the analysis of shareholders’ structure of public listed companies allow to understand trends and changes in corporate governance system. The latest studies of ownership structure indicate different patterns and forms of ownership and control as well as relate various shareholders’ structure to cor-porate policy and strategy. The article discusses the aspects of ownership struc-ture with the emphasis put on the pyramids as the popular form for separation cash flow and control rights. The article presents the initial research results on the sample of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange presenting their general characteristics.
