Quality of Life of Patients Followed for Thyroid Cancer: An Element Not to Overlook
Journal Title: Journal of Endocrinology and Diabetes - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
The quality of life has attracted great interest in recent years, primarily in patients followed for cancer. Differentiated thyroid cancer, despite its good prognosis, is responsible for a significant deterioration in the quality of life found in several studies. Many factors affecting the quality of life were found in the studies, including radioiodine therapy and its dosage, the use of rh-TSH, total thyroidectomy and lymph node dissection, the stage of cancer, hormone treatment with TSH suppression, age and sex. Particular attention should be paid to patients being followed for thyroid cancer, to restore their quality of life, especially in the presence of factor affecting the quality of life.

Diabetes Autoantibodies Mediate Neural- and Endothelial Cell- Inhibitory Effects Via 5-Hydroxytryptamine- 2 Receptor Coupled to Phospholipase C/Inositol Triphosphate/Ca2+ Pathway
Aims: To identify the G-protein coupled receptor(s) on neuroblastoma and endothelial cells which mediate neural- and endothelial cellinhibitory effects in plasma autoantibodies from a subset of older type 2 diabetes with...
The Impact of Low-Grading Inflammation on Circulating Endothelial-Derived Progenitor Cells in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes Mellitus
Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) remains a leading contributor to cardiovascular mortality worldwide. This study was conducted to investigate the pattern of circulating Endothelial Progenitor Cells (EPCs) in T2DM patients...
Diabetes, Hypertension, Arthritis and other Chronic Non-communicable Diseases in an English-Speaking Caribbean Nation: A Health Perspective
Introduction: Four (4) in every five (5) people in the developing world die from chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs); yet the literature has few studies on the health status of those with these conditions. This stud...
Neonatal Severe Hyperparathyroidism: A Fatal Case
Background: Neonatal severe primary hyperparathyroidism (NSHPT) is a rare disorder that is usually caused by homozygous inactivating mutations in the CASR gene encoding the calcium sensing receptor (CaSR). Although parat...
Increased Neuronal Depolarization Evoked by Autoantibodies in Diabetic Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Role for Inflammatory Protease(s) in Generation of Neurotoxic Immunoglobulin Fragment
Aim Obstructive sleep apnea increases in diabetes and morbid obesity. We tested a hypothesis that circulating autoantibodies in adult type 2 diabetes which increase in association with morbid obesity are capable of causi...
