Radioembolization in the Treatment of Metastatic Liver Cancer

Journal Title: Nükleer Tıp Seminerleri - Year 2019, Vol 5, Issue 2

Abstract

Transarterial radioembolization is an important alternative for treatment of primary liver tumors and metastatic liver disease. While initial indication of radioembolization was the last step in unresectable tumors refractory to chemotherapy, recently, it is also used in addition to chemotherapy or to decrease tumor size before surgery. Ongoing clinical studies target comparing the success rates of this local therapy with traditional systemic therapies or transarterial chemoembolization as the first-line therapy. In this section, clinical results of transarterial radioembolization in metastatic liver tumors based on the literature and targeted indications of use will be mentioned.
