Journal Title: Medycyna Sportowa - Year 2014, Vol 30, Issue 3

Abstract

Background. Body ageing processes and pathological changes significantly contribute to po stural stability deterioration. The knowledge of the potential of the nervous system confirms that exercising enables postural stability improvement. The goal of the study was to assess stability limit after exercising on the force plate. Material and methods. The study was carried out at the Rehabilitation Department of the Provincial Polyclinical Hospital in Kielce. The sample included 15 males and 26 females (41 partici pants). All the subjects gave their informed consent for participation in the study. The first stage of the study involved a survey. Next a test was performed, followed by a series of exer cises on the force plate. The trials were conducted at the beginning and at the end of the se ries of procedures (each series comprised 10 procedures). The results of Stability Limits test was filed in a form of print.Results. A statistically significant improvement was noted in all the results obtained from the control group during test 2 as compared to test 1. Also a statistically significant dependency was observed between age, place of abode, occupational activity and test results. Conclusions. A series of exercises on the force plate results in a statistically significant improvement of test results. There is a statistically significant dependency between age, place of abode, occupational activity and test results.
