Journal Title: UcoArte. Revista de Teoría e Historia del Arte - Year 2021, Vol 10, Issue 12

Abstract

The article offers an in-depth study of Renato Guttuso, a Sicilian artist who has a prominent role in the European painting scene of the Twentieth Century. This essay analyses his work in Sicily and most recent studies offering new stimuli for a reflection on the artist’s link with his homeland. There are numerous testimonies of his work in the area in addition to the Guttuso Museum, founded in Bagheria thanks to a donation from the artist, and the Steri Monumental Complex, where recently his internationally known masterpiece La Vucciria has been the subject of a new exhibition. Different institutions host examples of his multiform work proving Guttuso’s intense activity and transversal interests along itineraries worthy of greater attention.
