Repositório institucional como componente de sistemas de informação gerencial para universidades

Abstract
Universities are educational institutions that stand out for teaching and research. They have autonomy and share features with other institutions providing services, concerning the management of personnel and finance, but with differences in pedagogical issues and research. In this sense, it requires strategic information to support decisions aimed at issues related to the peculiarities of the institution. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the academic institutional repositories as part of the information system for universities, providing strategic information to the institution. This paper is oriented by qualitative nature, in order to relate concepts of repositories and information systems. Repository contains the academic production of the university, and then it can offer to information managers on issues of productivity and visibility general or staggered. It expands the view of repositories beyond the information dissemination process for the generation of meta-information. It proves to be a useful tool for managers from different walks of university.
